High-Quality Acetal (POM)

What is POM?

Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal, is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic known for its exceptional stiffness, low friction, and excellent wear resistance. It offers outstanding dimensional stability, high fatigue resistance, and good chemical resistance, making it ideal for precision-moulded parts.

POM is available in two main types: copolymer and homopolymer. POM copolymer provides better chemical resistance, lower porosity, and improved thermal stability, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications. POM homopolymer, which we can source, offers higher stiffness and hardness, along with slightly better mechanical strength and creep resistance.

Common Applications

POM is widely used in precision engineering, automotive, and consumer goods. Typical applications include gears, bearings, fasteners, conveyor components, and fuel system parts. It is also commonly found in electrical connectors and mechanical components requiring low friction and high wear resistance.

Our POM Products

We stock a range of POM copolymer grades suitable for injection moulding and other processes, including:

Prime POM Copolymer

MFI 9 and MFI 27, offering excellent strength and processability, packed in 25kg bags.

Reprocessed POM Copolymer

Black moulding grade, available in 25kg bags.

Powdered POM Copolymer

MFI 27, pulverised to 1200μm, packed in 20kg bags.

We can also source POM Homopolymer for applications requiring increased stiffness, hardness, and mechanical strength.
